Microsoft Shows off New Live Tiles

This is what Windows 8 live tiles should have been from the start. But honestly, these are ordinary widgets disguised in monochrome. The tiles being shown off are interactive and allow the user to actually control certain aspects of the app without having to open the app.

For example the user can control the music player and view the current playlist from the tile without having to open the music app. Similarly, Email can be selected and office documents opened straight from the tile.

Quite frankly, these are ordinary Android Widgets being used. So its not something new. But at the same time its a big move for the Windows OS. And hopefully we shall be seeing this in some future version of Windows Phone as well.
