Nokia 1520 (updated)

Nokia has come a long way with its Lumia line of smartphones starting with the Lumia 800. These devices are powered by Windows Phone OS. The Lumia line has seen steady growth both in terms of user base and apps. This however is nowhere compared to IOS or Android.

Samsung released the first phablet (phone-tablet marriage). This was the Galaxy note. Many thought that the device was to large and didn't have a place in this world. They argued that anyone who needed a large screen would just get a tablet.

Unfortunately , they all swallowed their words as the Galaxy note was selling better than hot cakes. It was an experiment gone right for Samsung. Competitor companies immediately started working on phablets as well. The first was the HTC Droid DNA. Then other like the Sony Xperia ZL and others.

Nokia, though late to the party as always in terms of everything from software to hardware, have finally released the first Nokia phablet. Its the Nokia 1520.

This device is simply gorgeous. The images don't do it justice. It features a gorgeous 6 inch FULL HD display covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and is powered by the Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset,

The 1520 has a 20 MP, 1/2.5 inch sensor  camera with Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, auto focus and dual-LED flash. On paper, all this means that it's a great cameraIt features wireless charging built in and finally in addition to the 32 GB internal storage, it has support for Micro SD with upto 64GB support.

The device ships with a new version of Windows Phone 8. This is GDR3 which has support for "newer" hardware. It has a host of new apps such as Nokia Camera which is a combination of Nokia Pro Cam and Smart Cam. It's a great device for web browsing and multimedia playback.

This device has what it takes to actually keep up with the competition this time around. Its the first Windows Phone device with a quad core CPU and has support for the latest LTE, WIFI and Bluetooth connectivity.
