Mobile World Congress 2014
Mobile World Congress is an annual mobile device that takes place in Barcelona Spain. Smartphone manufactures and app developers show case their upcoming products here. This year the biggest attraction is arguably going to be the Samsung Galaxy s5 and the Nokia X Android smartphones.
Facebook owned WhatsApp will enable voice services this year. The texting and media sharing platform will enable its users to make voice calls over the internet.
Nokia unveils to new low end Asha phones. The Asha 220 and 230. These are low cost phones for emerging markets.
Qualcomm has unveiled two new smartphone processors. The snapdragon 610/ 615 which is a 64 bit Soc for mid range devices. The 610 has 4 CPU cores while the 615 has 8 CPU cores. Both chipsets are powered by the Adreno 405 GPU. The GPU is DX 11.2 capable and supports OpenGL 3.0
The second processor is the Snapdragon 801 Soc for high end smartphones and tablets. It is an upgrade to the 800. The chipset is compatible, pin to pin with the snapdragon 800. This will make it easier for manufactures to just swap out the two. The 801 is capable a 14-percent boost in processor performance, 28-percent faster graphics, and 45-percent speedier camera sensor processing.
HTC also show cased the HTC Desire 816. It is a mid range smartphone with a 5.5-inch, 720p resolution display. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor with a clock at 1.6Ghz. It feartures from facing speakers like those of the HTC One, packs a good camera and a software experince similar to that of the HTC One.
Sony was not about to be undone as it also unveiled the Xperia Z2 tablet and smartphone. Both of them have similar specs with the exception of size of course. Both of them are powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 801 processor with 2.3 GHz quad-core Krait CPUs and 4G LTE, have Full HD (1080p) panels with Triluminous for mobile technology and Live Color LED powered by an X-Reality for mobile engine. The tablet is 10.1 inches in size
Xperia smartphone Z2 features stereo speaker output and Sony’s digital noise cancelling technology.
This is the first smarphone with this feature. Sont claims that the digital noise cancelling technology and dynamic sound in Xperia Z2 helps reduce up to 98% of ambient noise,
